DETAILS

Mt. View in Dry Brush Acrylic Technique Sunday, August 24th | 10am-1pm $65 PAFAC Members | $70 General Tickets Location: Salt Creek Recreation Area Join "Surf, Skate, & Snow" artist Darcie Gray for an outdoor painting workshop focused on dry brush techniques using acrylic paint. Create a landscape inspired by the natural beauty of the Olympic Peninsula, beginning with an ombré sky—blending dark to light to create a soft, fading horizon. From there, participants will layer in the landscape, finishing with white highlights for contrast and depth. Darcie will guide you through each step of the process, offering instruction on the key elements of painting. For those who feel more confident and are looking to explore the technique creatively, there will be plenty of room for personal expression. If you prefer a more structured approach, Darcie will be right there to support you along the way. Weather permitting, the class will be held outdoors to soak in the inspiration of our surroundings. While this isn’t a plein air class, it’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fresh air while working on a simplified landscape painting & new techniques. About the Instructor: Range | Art by Darcie Gray As a Pacific Northwest-based artist and muralist, my landscape paintings reflect the beauty of our mountains, forests and coastlines. Inviting you into the quiet pulse of nature, where calm and energy intertwine, my landscapes merge realism and nuance. Using a palette of only blues, greens, black and white, I aim to capture the serenity and energy of mist-covered forests, mountain peaks, ocean waves, and fading horizons. As a public artist, I am focused on transforming urban spaces through immersive, nature-inspired murals. Each mural serves as a reminder that during the rush of everyday life there’s opportunity to pause and reconnect with the calming presence of nature. When I’m not in the studio, I find inspiration outdoors—chasing wind, waves, and mountain adventures.
